“SON OF BUSKATHON”@ Speakers’ Corner Dam Street 14th & 15th May 2011 UPDATE
With just over a week to go everything is almost in place for “SON OF BUSKATHON” in aid of the FUSE festival in Lichfield.
Following last year’s successful event “SON OF BUSKATHON” will again take place at the newly refurbished Speakers’ Corner, Dam Street on May 14th & 15th. More than 30 different performers of all varieties will be taking part on both days, including: solo buskers, local (and not so local!) bands, dancers, jugglers, poets, children’s activities and much, much more!
Saturday will be kicked off at 9am by Chris Newcombe (aka George from the Born Again Beatles) and will finish around 7pm culminating like last year in a sing-a-long with Dave Simcox (aka Bruford Low). The line up also includes a number of acts who will be performing at FUSE including: Influx, Chloe & The Tomcats, Michael Jones, Stray Dog, Cul-de-sac, Luca, and Pedralta World Fusion Bellydance, as well as the Lichfield Morris Dancers, and our very own MICHAEL FABRICANT MP will be singing again sometime around lunchtime.
At 12pm on the Saturday there will also be a special ceremony to mark the 2-year Anniversary of Speaker’s Corner which will be attended by members of Lichfield City Council and other local dignitaries.
Sunday will see Chris Newcombe and Dave Simcox busking for 10 hours in relay 9am. They will be supported in their efforts by a number of special guests including Andy Heath from The Low Orders and The Offbeat. The event will close with a Grand Finale sing-a-long event will again finishing at 7pm.
